Travel Policies
The basics:
In most cases, rehearsals for instrumental or vocal soloists will take place only at one of Mr.
Horowitz’s regular studio locations near Arlington, Virginia (permanent location TBA). Scheduling is
always a challenge, but when practical, Mr. Horowitz will gladly travel outside the studio to attend
large group rehearsals (like musicals, choirs, or weddings) as well as to attend competitions, recitals,
or festivals for soloists.
The usual charge for accompaniment services is $50 per hour. The minimum charge for any job
(which may include one or more rehearsals and/or performances) is $50, regardless of how short.
When it is necessary to travel for rehearsals or performances, time spent in transit and time spent
waiting will be charged at the same rate as rehearsal time.

The usual charge for travel to downtown Washington, D.C. as well as the inner Virginia suburbs of
Alexandria, Annandale, Arlington, Burke, Fairfax, Falls Church, McLean, Springfield, and Vienna is
$50 (30 minutes of travel time on either side of the event). Travel charges to points further afield will
be estimated based on the expected travel time from Arlington.
Clients are expected to provide and/or pay for parking expenses, when applicable.
When it is necessary to travel, it is often also necessary to wait at the event site. Time spent waiting
is charged just the same as rehearsal time. If the client is performing in a group recital, payment will
be due for the expected duration of the recital. Mr. Horowitz will not leave the recital early.
When more than one client is performing at the same event, charges for travel time may be shared
between clients. The minimum charge to show up at the event site is $25 per person.
For VBODA Solo & Ensemble Festivals as well as any other event in which five or more students can
be accommodated in one visit, further discounts are available. Check out the festival page or contact
the studio for more information.
So what exactly will it cost?
Most rehearsals are 50-60 minutes and will cost $50; some younger students can be accommodated
in 30 minutes for $25. Accompanying you at an individual audition event in the cities listed above will
be about $75. Accompanying you at a recital event will be about $125. Remember that the cost is
based simply on the length of time spent at the event, including travel time. Please contact the studio
for an exact quote. Once you receive a quote, the charges will not change as long as the times and
locations don’t change.
