2020-21 Studio Recitals and Events
Participation in these events is essential for youth with one+ year experience. Workshop participation requirement can be met with just two visits per year.
Mid-September: Fall Performance Workshops begin. All Fall workshops will be remote-only.
Sunday, December 13: Studio Open House and Mini-Recital. Due to the coronavirus situation, the recital will be conducted in a live online format with flexible sign-up scheduling.
Mid-January: Winter/Spring Performance Workshops begin. All Winter/Spring Workshops are remote-only.
Late May/Early June: Summer Recital rehearsals at the Studio. Canceled due to the coronavirus situation.
June 12-13: Summer Recital. Dates are tentative. Format of the recital will be adapted due to the coronavirus situation. Plans will be announced by early May.

Participation in these events is optional but encouraged for experienced students. Students, teachers, and parents choose which events and programs are meaningful and useful each individual student.
Monday, June 8: 40 Piece Challenge begins
Mid-February (TBD): Guest Artist Masterclass, a part of our Performance Workshops program
April 24: Studio Honors Recital, a part of our Performance Workshops program. Most performers will participate remotely and the recital will be broadcast live via YouTube.
May 15: Guest Artist Masterclass, a part of our Performance Workshops program. Most performers will participate remotely.
May 21-23: Recital pre-rehearsals, a part of our Performance Workshops program. Most students will participate remotely.
May 31: Deadline for completing 40 Piece Challenge
June 20: Deadline for Studio Star awards
2020-21 Outside Events
Participation in outside events is optional but encouraged for experienced students. From among many dozens of area events, we've listed only teacher-organized events in which many of our students commonly participate. No single student participates in every event.
Early November: Virginia Music Teachers Association (VMTA) Fall Festival. Non-competitive. Two pieces performed in recorded video format.
Late November/Early December: Royal Conservatory of Music, Toronto Exams (RCM). Non-competitive. Live online audition format.
March 12-13: National Federation of Music Clubs (NFMC) Festival. Non-competitive. Two pieces performed in short recital format. Our most popular outside event. Format (live/video/remote) TBD.
February/March: NVMTA Bach/Baroque Festival. Offers non-competitive and competitive divisions. Two Baroque era pieces performed in short recital format. Format (live/remote) TBD.
Mid May/Early June: RCM Exams.
