As you can imagine, the coronavirus pandemic has caused big changes in our operations. We closed on Saturday March 14 and we re-opened for remote lessons only on Monday March 16. We do plan to open again for in-person lessons...someday! But the situation is still too fluid to make more specific plans.
If you are a current student looking for more info: we sent many emails about our transition to remote learning. If you didn't get these, call or email Mr. Horowitz.
REMOTE LESSONS Our first eight+ weeks of remote lessons have gone very well! If you are interested in remote learning at our Studio, please contact us. We have room for you! We can help provide you with education during the shutdown, and we can transition you from remote to in-person lessons when we are able to fully re-open.
IN-PERSON OPENINGS Scroll down for more info on expected in-person openings for both individual lessons and our unique group beginner class (which we call Bright Starts). This information will be checked and updated each week. If you need more information or have questions, call us! We'd love to talk more.
As you can imagine, the current situation with the coronavirus has scrambled our usual list of openings. In the short term, we have many spaces for new students in remote lessons. Now through August 28, we will be charging all new-student lessons one-by-one with flexible scheduling and no monthly tuition. And we'll be open for remote teaching all summer long. At some point (hopefully) soon, we'll be able to re-open for in-person lessons. You can start lessons remotely now and move to in-person lessons later, when we are able...or choose to remain in remote lessons, even after we re-open.
We are able to serve students age 6+ of all levels, from beginners to advanced students. We are able to serve both youth and adults in remote lessons. Scheduling is flexible with morning, afternoon, evening, and Sunday slots available.
Thinking longer term...we do expect to have plenty of openings, including in "prime" hours, on our 2020-2021 School Year schedule. We anticipate a full re-opening on the first day of the new school year (August 29). If you're looking to start piano lessons next school year, now is the time to get in touch! We have maximum flexibility to meet your scheduling needs for next school year if we hear from you now! Find our contact page through the menu bar. We'd love to hear from you.
During the closure related to the coronavirus situation, we continue to reach our students in remote lessons. We take registrations for next school year starting June 2 2020. A summary of expected openings is below. Read more about the program via Our Programs in the menu. Have questions? Call us! What event has seven pounds of M&M's, 144 cupcakes, 300+ humans walking through our door...plus 93 students performing 120+ pieces from memory in nine different short-short performance groups? Our 2019 Open House and Winter Mini-Recital, of course! Held in our little Studio home in Falls Church on December 8, 2019.
We treasure the opportunity to see so many people and hear so many performances, all in one day. Thank you to those who who performed and those who joined us and especially to our wonderful teachers for their support in preparing all our students for the event. If you weren't able to join us this year, mark your calendar for December 13, 2020! All are welcome.
You are invited! On Sunday, December 8, we will host our annual Open House and Mini-Recital at the Studio in Falls Church. While primarily an event for our current community of students, we warmly welcome guests and community of all ages. We enjoy short-short performance groups throughout the day as well as lots of cupcakes and general merriment. Doors open at 12:45 and close when the last group begins at 7:30.
We celebrated the end of our School Year with five recitals on June 8 & 9 at The Falls Church Episcopal. Our youngest performer was five years old and our oldest was eighteen. 122 students presented 169 different pieces. And no recital lasted more than 70 minutes! How gratifying it is for us to see our youngest beginners presenting themselves with confidence and our most advanced teens presenting a program full of demanding masterworks…all in the same weekend! To all our students and parents: we are grateful for your participation but also…for your support to us and to music. We thank you for making music—and our little studio—a part of your journey! To anyone else who might be reading this: you should join us next year! Our recitals are free and open to the public with no fees and no ticketing for students or guests.
